John Isner, full name John Robert Isner, was born on April 26th 1985 in Greensboro, North Carolina. He is an American professional tennis player, currently ranked #18 in the ATP list.
His family may be described as a common one, consisting of a father, Robert, a mother, Karen, and two older brothers, Jordan and Nathan.
Isner began playing tennis when he was nine at the Carolina Tennis Academy, his professional career started in 2007 and John Isner's ranking raised from #839 (when he needed wildcard entries) to #18 in 2011.
During his education at the University of Georgia (2004-2007), John earned All-American honors and became the school's all-time leader in singles and doubles victories.
Thanks to his height 6’9” (206 cm), John Isner's serve is one of the most powerful ones, it often riches 148 miles per hour (238 kph), granting his game lots of aces.
John is coached by Craig Boynton (a former ATP pro) since March 2009, plays right-handed and his favorite surface is an outdoor hard court where he shows his best results.
How does a famous athlete spend his free time? Well, Isner's hobbies include playing basketball, golf and poker, and, accordingly to his words, if he wasn't a tennis player, he would probably play in a basketball team.
John Isner received the world-wide popularity for his tremendous victory against Nicolas Mahut at the 2010 Wimbledon Mahut-Isner battle where he played the longest match in tennis history, lasted 11 hours and 5 minutes.
