John Isner advances to the quarterfinal in Houston after his victory against Zeballos, and his next rival for a place in the semifinal is Ryan Sweeting (ATP rankings #143). This is another rare American player who plays well on clay court. Generally, Sweeting has been showing a nice performance at the US Men's Clay Court Championship, last year he even won this tournament, so he is a defending champion now.
It's the second meeting between Isner and Sweeting in their head-to-head statistics. They played at the Delray Beach this year, and John took an easy win 6-3, 6-4. Players' form hasn't changed much since then, except that Sweeting dropped to #143 from #82. Besides, it's important for Isner to go as far as possible in Houston, because this will allow him to raise his rankings in the ATP list and get a new career height. Big Man lost the first set against Zeballos yesterday, probably because the clay he played in France was a bit different than in Houston. This time we hope him to win in straight sets.
Pick: John Isner 2-0
